Jacque Casillas for Corona City Council, District 1

Why I'm running

I’m running for City Council because I believe in Corona – the city that has always believed in me.

If elected, I will ensure our police officers and firefighters have the resources they need to keep us safe, will invest in our children and families, and will help our local businesses thrive, bringing more good high wage jobs to our city.

I am a proud graduate of Corona’s public schools, and went on to receive my bachelor’s degree from UC San Diego and my master’s degree in public policy from UCLA. No matter where life took me, I have always known that Corona is where I want to live, work and raise my family.

Keeping our families and neighborhoods safe should be local government’s top priority. I am grateful for the tremendous work our public safety community does, and will fight to provide them with the resources to continue keeping us safe.

As the daughter of working class parents who did not have the opportunity to receive higher education, I understand just how critical it is for our children to have a quality education along with after-school programs and sports activities for youth. That’s why I’ll work to protect the quality of our local public schools, which are some of the best in the state, and advocate for youth programs that keep kids out of trouble and help them thrive.

Our local businesses are the backbone of our economic prosperity. We must ensure that they have the support they need to succeed and expand.  We also need to attract new and innovative high wage employers to our city.

I was raised in the Grand Circle and have called Corona my home my entire life. My parents instilled in me a strong sense of giving back to the community that gave us so much. I spent many weekends volunteering at the library, organizing with schoolmates to collect items for families in need, and cleaning up Corona’s sidewalks, streets and parks through “Corona Beautiful,” and I have always been inspired by our community’s ability to come together toward a common purpose.  These are the values that will guide me as your councilmember.

Corona is a community that is proud of where it has come from, and a community that has boundless optimism for its future. I am proud to say that I live here, and believe in our future. I would be honored to have your vote.
